Processing a Snow Melt Project

New Construction

Bylin's automatic pavement snowmelt systems are applied to the building's driveways, walkways, plaza areas, decks, and as required, flat roof areas in Class 1 snow load areas. The SMB and SMC heating cables are installed by electricians and are continuously tested during the concrete, tile, pavers or asphalt application process.

Bylin / Installer (Electrical Contractor)

  • Review layout designs and installation requirements and continuously monitors snowmelt cables during the concrete, tile or asphalt application process.

Pavement Snowmelt Retrofit

Bylin offers an alternative method to installing a Bylin automatic snowmelt system in an existing paved area.  The procedure includes using a concrete saw set to provide a 1/2” wide cut (2-1/4 “ blades) 2” deep being careful not to cut rebar.

Building Owner / Bylin

  • Define areas for snowmelt retrofit and power available
Bylin Supplies:
  • Snowmelt layout designs

  • Electrical circuit designs

  • Snowmelt system equipment and control panels with branch circuit protection and energy efficient controls

Bylin / Installer (Electrical Contractor)

Review layout designs and installation requirements and continuously monitors snowmelt cables during the concrete, tile or asphalt application process.

Note: Options to consider:

  1. After patching pavement, add a pavement decorative surface.

  2. Rather than completely heat a long driveway, consider 2 – Bylin cables each for each of the vehicle tire tracks.
