Processing a Pipe Heat Trace Project

• Define the piping exposed to freezing (both outdoors and exposed parking garage areas)

• Define the piping containing process fluids (i.e. restaurant grease lines) and their piping temperature maintenance

NOTE: The majority of the piping is 2” diameter and smaller and will be a “field-routed” piping installation.  As a result, measurements off piping layouts will not include the variance of the actual installation.

• Engineering line schedule and heating cable required

• High performance, self-regulating cut-to-length heating cables (10 yr warranty)

• Components and accessories

• Temperature controller and branch circuit ground fault protection

Bylin / Installer (Electrical Contractor)

• Review design basis (including insulation type and thickness)

• Review installation procedures and heating cable circuit layouts

• Megger test heating cable circuits
