Processing a Frost Heave Prevention Project

Designer / Bylin

  • Define the cold storage design parameters
    • Building layout
    • Freezer temperature
    • Floor and subfloor profile

Bylin Supplies:

Cold Storage Design

  • Temperature maintain 0 °F to -30 °F
  • Floor profile
    • 6" - 10" Concrete Floor
    • Insulation (R-30 or better)
    • 8" - 12" Subfloor (Concrete mud)
    • Conduit – 3/4" diameter on 4 ft. centers
  • Power Supply - 3-phase, 4 wire, 208 or 277 VAC

System Components - For each project

  • Engineered drawings complete with installation and wiring instructions.
  • Self-regulating heating cable sets
    • Pre-cut to exact lengths
    • Factory terminated and tested
    • Custom pull-ring built into the end seal
    • Long-term reliable service
  • Energy efficient control panel
    • 3-phase, 4 wire load center (208 or 277 VAC)
    • Branch circuit breakers,
    • Ground fault protection per NEC,
    • Electronic temperature controller and branch circuit solid state relays,
    • Multiple location temperature sensors (RTD) positioned in conduit between heating cable conduits.

Bylin/Installer
  • Review layout designs and installation instructions.

Each heating cable set includes a factory terminated and tested end seal and power connection.  A pull ring is incorporated into the end seal to facilitate pulling the heating cable through the conduit and into position.  Power is fed from the control panel to the junction boxes located along the freezer’s perimeter.

The main power feed to the control panel is typically 3-phase, 4 wire 208VAC or 277 VAC power and is directly wired to the load center lugs.

Eliminate Maintenance Problems
Our heating cable construction is a self-regulating, parallel-circuited heater element designed to provide long term, reliable service. There are no pumps, valves or other moving parts to maintain and replace. There are no fluids to leak into the local environment. There are no fans, dampers and screens to repair, clean, maintain and adjust.

Our system is automatic and only requires periodic monitoring.

Should a heating cable set ever need replacement, simply remove the existing cable and pull a new one in its place – it‘s that simple.
